MISD CTE Dual Enrollment: Welding & HVAC Opportunities for 2026-2027

Give your students a powerful jump-start on their future career! UCS is transitioning from the current CTE Dual Enrollment model to the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) model. The MISD is offering two outstanding Career & Technical Education (CTE) Dual Enrollment programs—Welding and HVAC—in partnership with Macomb Community College. These programs allow current 10th–11th grade students to earn 9 college credits while gaining real-world, hands-on experience in high-demand skilled trades.

Program Highlights:

  • Held during the school day at Macomb Community College (Warren Campus)
  • Five days a week with industry exposure (NEW)
  • Earn 9 college credits toward postsecondary certification pathways
  • Class Dates: August 17, 2026 – May 7, 2027 (NEW)
  • Applications Due: April 17, 2026
  • Acceptance Notifications: Week of April 20, 2026
  • Onboarding Event: April 28, 2026

Welding offers students foundational skills in multiple industry-standard welding processes, equipment operation, and safety practices, with all work aligned to American Welding Society (AWS) standards.

HVAC introduces students to heating, cooling, refrigeration, controls, and plumbing fundamentals, blending hands-on practice with essential scientific and technical concepts used in the HVAC industry.
